Shield & Pelt Enterprises
Shield & Pelt logo: a beaver on a rock, Fur â€ĸ Wildlife â€ĸ Tradition

Canada's most authentic purveyor of fur, wildlife, and tradition. Rugged. Northern. Founded by Nick, who has been north of Barrie at least twice.

Wares of the North

Each item personally vetted by Nick, a man who owns a flannel shirt.

The Signature Pelt

Hand-selected from a single beaver who, frankly, did not consent to being on the logo either.

Price available upon awkward conversation

Beaver has retained legal counsel.

A Piece of the Canadian Shield

A genuine rock. From outside. Nick picked it up himself and has been calling it "inventory" ever since.

$85 (it's a rock)

Billions of years old. Still more current than Nick's opinions.

Wilderness Experience

Spend a weekend in the bush with Nick. He will explain the entire history of the fur trade, mostly incorrectly.

$400 + bug spray

Experience may take place at a cottage with Wi-Fi.

Tradition (Bulk)

We're not totally sure what this one is. It was on the logo, so now we have to sell it.

By the pound

Tradition est. 2026.

Official founder portrait. Nick says the resemblance is "a coincidence."

A Word From Our Founder

Nick founded Shield & Pelt Enterprises with a simple dream: to bring the spirit of the voyageurs to the modern era, and to have a really cool logo.

He has achieved one of those things. Sort of.

Like the great fur traders before him, Nick has braved the harsh Canadian landscape, by which we mean the 401 on a Friday. He knows the land. He respects the beaver. He has strong opinions about canoes that nobody has asked for.

"Fur. Wildlife. Tradition. It's not just a slogan, it's literally the three words the computer put on the logo." — Nick

I asked Nick what the company actually sells. He pointed at the logo for a long time and said "this."

Frequently Asked Questions

Asked mostly by Nick's friends, mostly in disbelief.

Is this a real business?

It has a logo. What more do you want?

Why "Shield & Pelt Enterprises"?

The Canadian Shield, and pelts. "Enterprises" was added so it sounds like there is more than one guy. There is not.

Who designed the logo?

Nick did. With his own two hands. Typing.

Do you ship?

By canoe only. Please allow 6–8 portages.

What is your return policy?

You may return any item, but Nick will tell you a story about the Hudson's Bay Company until you change your mind.

Is the beaver okay?

The beaver is fine. Nick is the one we're worried about.
